Longridge charity receives donation for youth club

A Longridge-based charity has received a £500 donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation as part of its support for charities across the UK.

Longridge Community Action received the donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation after being nominated for financial support by colleagues at the Society’s Longridge agency.

Longridge Community Action is a small, local charity that's deeply rooted in the community and is fuelled by the passion of local people. The charity’s aim is to offer a diverse range of engaging projects and programmes that enrich and inspire the community.

The £500 donation to Longridge Community Action will be used to help fund the operations of the Friday Night Youth Club, providing a safe and welcoming space for teenagers to hang out, especially during the colder months.

Helen Millington, Agency Proprietor of Yorkshire Building Society in Longridge, said: “We are proud to be able to support Longridge Community Action with a donation from the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation. The work LCA is doing is helping to restore services and facilities that used to be available and helps to make a real difference to Longridge young people.”

Kieren Spencer, LCA’s Service Delivery Manager, said “We are really thankful for the donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation that will help us continue to do our good work in our community.”

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK.

Last year the foundation donated over £283,000 to local causes and charities nominated by members and colleagues from around the UK.
