Celebrities pay tribute to Caroline Aherne
Among them is one from Fast Show co-star, Preston’s John Thomson.
He posted on Twitter: “I’ve lost a very good friend, we went back years. An irreplaceable comic genius. A joy to be and work with. The Renee to my Roy. RIP Caroline”

Hide AdAherne said two years ago she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, having previously had bladder and eye cancer.
She was a star and writer of The Royle Family and The Mrs Merton Show,
The actress appeared in The Fast Show and was also the narrator of Gogglebox.
The Bafta award-winning writer and comedy actor died earlier at her home in Timperley, Greater Manchester.

Hide AdMany friends and fellow entertainers spoke on social media of their shock at her death.
Ralf Little, who co-starred with her in The Royle Family, said: “Sorry for silence - I just... don’t know what to say. What a sad, sad day. We’ve lost another one of our best.”
Jason Manford wrote: “Awful news about Caroline Aherne. She gave us all so many laughs and happy memories. Rest in Peace.”
