Chorley street attack left man with a double fracture to his leg

Cameron Sutherman, 25, of Thorneyholme Close, Lostock, Bolton, admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Dean Charnley on May 5 last year, after an attack in the street left him with a broken leg.
His co-defendants, Lawrence Cafferty, 26, of Spencers Wood, Bromley Cross, Bolton, and Nabeel Tabassum, 26, of Glendale Drive, Bolton, are to be sentenced for causing actual bodily harm to another man, Kyle Blundell, on the same date.

Hide AdProsecuting, David Clarke said: "The incident arose out of trouble inside a public house where another man seems to have caused some trouble.
"Mr Charnley and Mr Blundell came outside and were making their way upstairs when this defendant and co defendants came out and followed them up the street.
"Simultaneously two separate incidents took place, where Cafferty and Tabassum attacked Mr Blundell, and Sutherland, from CCTV footage, threw one punch which put Mr Charnley to the ground.
"Then,whilst he was on the ground he was effectively kept in the position, whereby the attack continued with multiple punches and one kick to the head.
"He suffered a double fracture to his tibia and fibia."

Hide AdJudge Simon Newell adjourned the sentencing for all three defendants to November 2 and ordered a pre sentence report for Sutherman.
He warned him it was a very serious matter and that custody would be "at the forefront of the courts mind."
