Indie favourites The Wedding Present are set for a memorable return to Preston, 31 years after their first visit.

The John Peel favourites play The Continental, South Meadow Lane, on Thursday, July 27, with tickets £20, available from Friday, March 10, via https://www.skiddle.com/, the venue (01772 499425) or Action Records (01772 884772).

David Gedge’s four-piece – completed by Charlie Layton (drums), Danielle Wadey (bass) and Marcus Kain (guitar) and playing BBC 6 Music’s festival in Glasgow later this month – appeared at the Twang Club, Kent Street, in January 1986, a year before debut LP George Best.

They’ve only returned once, playing UCLan’s 53 Degrees in December 2010, scoring 18 top-40 singles and seven top-40 LPs between visits.

The Preston show follows a major North American tour and several larger UK and Irish dates, the band travelling from Lancashire on to festival appearances in Derbyshire and on the Isle of Bute.
