A new adaptation of H.G. Wells’ sci-fi classic The Time Machine premieres at The Lowry Studio from Thursday to Saturday, part of the venue’s Developed With programme.

Wells’ 1895 novella
inspired dozens of sequels, spin-offs and comic books and has been adapted twice by Hollywood.

In Nunkie Theatre’s
rework, Robert Lloyd Parry is the inventor of a time
travel machine who
discovers sinister changes have been wrought by the
millennia on civilisation.

A specially-made Time Machine has been commissioned, inspired by Lloyd Parry’s visit to The Whipple Museum of The History of
Science in Cambridge and based on a 19th century metronome. Box Office: 0843 208 6005 or www.thelowry.com.
