Woman hospitalised with 'head injury' after five-vehicle crash closes M65 westbound near Blackburn

The M65 westbound was closed between junctions 4 (Earcroft) and 3 (Brimmicroft) at approximately 4.30pm on Monday (August 22).
National Highways said this was due to a “serious collision involving a number of vehicles” and all emergency services had been called to the area.

Hide Ad“There is approximately four miles of congestion on the approach to the closure,” a spokesman for National Highways said.
North West Ambulance Service later confirmed one woman was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with a “head injury”.
Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, with police classing the incident as a “minor injury collision”.
A diversion was put in place as the scene was cleared, with motorists urged to add extra time to their journeys.
At around 7pm, National Highways confirmed the carriageway had reopened and traffic conditions had returned to normal.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service did not attend.
